Présentation ENGIE OPEN BIARRITZ

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

ENGIE OPEN of Biarritz - Basque Country
François Duport, Tournament Director

The EOB will celebrate
its 21st edition

How could I think in 2003, the first year I managed this tournament, that it was the start of a long adventure?

More than 20 years later, this international event has written a remarkable history, thanks to the unfailing support of the city of Biarritz, main partner ENGIE, all partners and communities, federal authorities and Biarritz Olympique.
This tournament is a springboard for the highest level in the world. Patrice Dominguez, who I am thinking of especially today, made it possible by increasing the tournament prize money to $100,000. This allowed to welcome players who reached number one in the world such as Simona Halep or Garbine Muguruza.

In 2024, the tournament will be organized by BIARRITZ OLYMPIQUE, the week after Roland-Garros. I will be very happy to lead it alongside its organizer and club president, Jérôme Barrier. The sponsors will also discover a new set up, with a different level of support as well as greater visibility.

I therefore invite you to meet Jérome Barrier and his entire team at the Aguiléra Sports Park from June 10 to 16 to experience a superb women's sporting event.

A top level sports event

The ENGIE OPEN brings together the best players in the world every year. This year, the prize money has been increased to $100,000, which helps attract even more talent.

The tournament benefits from exceptional media coverage, thanks to the broadcast of the entire tournament on BeIN Sports, France 3 NoA and TVPI.
